As the summer comes to a close, there is still one last call for celebration that you and your family can enjoy. It’s American Family Day, and it’s celebrated on the first Sunday in August, which falls on August 5th this year.
While this day isn’t a federal holiday, it is an official state holiday in Arizona. But even if you’re not located in the Grand Canyon State, you can still celebrate this important day.
Right here in Texas, we have more than a few great ways you can spend time with your loved ones. Here are just a few of the favorites from our Dallas on demand couriers:
Trinity River Audubon Center: Now through the end of August, your family can enjoy $1 admission to the Audubon Center. With hands-on exhibits, miles of hiking trails, and loads of Texas wildlife, this is fun for the whole family.
Pack a picnic and take a ride: Did you know that Dallas is one of the most bike friendly cities in the country? With thousands of bike trails, you’re bound to find the perfect one for your family’s skill level. Pack a picnic and make a morning of it.
See the Dinos at The Perot Museum: With dozens of prehistoric objects to look at and 15 fully cast dinosaurs. If the dinos aren’t exciting enough for you, there’s an entire children’s exhibit, complete with a scavenger hunt, and five floors of things to explore.
Volunteer: Contact your local church, youth center, or soup kitchen, and teach your family the importance of giving their time for others. Serving in the community is a great way to grow closer to one another while focusing on others.
Root for the home team: Dallas and Arlington folks, head to a Rangers game. North DFW folks, the Frisco Rough Riders are in your backyard. No matter where you go, be sure to root for the home team, and enjoy a hot dog and ice cream sundae in a souvenir helmet.
Make a time capsule: Have everyone in the family put a few of their favorite things or meaningful items in a bin with the year on it. Don’t bury, it though. Instead, put it in your attic or in an inside closet to prevent it from getting wet or damaged.
Have a camp out: Mineral Wells, Grapevine, and Glen Rose are all great places close to home where you can plan a family camp out. IF the idea of camping outside makes you itchy (blogger slowly raises hand), then you can campout in your backyard or even in the living room. Just don’t forget the s’mores!
