6 Super Rush Ways to Beat the Holiday Stress

According to a Healthline survey, 62% of us feel “very or somewhat” elevated stress levels during the holiday season. Only 10% of us report no stress. (Those 10% were sipping a pina colada beach side, as they chose to avoid the holidays altogether. At least, that's what we think.)

The vitamin D improves mood, as does being around nature, and exercise releases the “happy hormone” serotonin, which can relieve stress and make dealing with your crazy extended family just a little more bearable.

 

Jam out- Find some headphones and play your favorite tunes for a few minutes. Music, even if it’s hard rock, relaxes us. If we sing along, we get double the benefits, as this relieves tension and reduces stress, as well.

 

Eat a piece of chocolate- I promise our super rush couriers didn’t make this up. It’s scientifically proven that chocolate reduces stress. It activates receptors in the brain that release pleasure generating neurotransmitters like dopamine.

 

Tell yourself a joke- But only if it’s funny! Laughter truly is the best medicine. It decreases stress hormones, and increases disease fighting antibody production. So, go ahead, laugh it up, Chuckles.
