As we boldly enter in to 2015, our Dallas Custom Critical Deliveries employees plan on making this their best year yet. We’d like the same for you, so we started a blog series called “New Year, New Year” where we will be highlighting some great ways to reach your goals for the New Year. This week’s topic is getting fit.
This is a perfect subject for our Dallas Long Distance Deliveries “New Year, New You” blog because about 1/3 of those who make a resolution resolve to lose weight. As we know, the best way to do that is to exercise. However, even though many of us will proclaim getting fit as a priority in 2015, very few of us will actually follow through. Experts say only about 8% of people succeed in their New Year’s Resolutions. Our Drive Out Deliveries Dallas team doesn’t want you to be a statistic, we want you to be a success story! So here are our expert tips on how to get fit this year.
Start out small: If you’re new to exercise, or you’ve been out of the game for awhile, starting small will be the most important part about your routine. If you go too hard too fast, you’re likely to end up injured or physically and emotionally burned out. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate to strenuous exercise most days of the week. What you do may be different from what others are doing. Moderate could mean anything from walking around the block to running a few miles. Start slowly and set bigger goals as your body acclimates.
Find a friend: One of the best ways to stick with a resolution is to stay accountable with a friend or family member who you trust. This person should be encouraging and understanding of your goals and limitations. It’s best if they are participating in the same program as you, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Try something new: Variety is the spice of life, isn’t that what they say? When you find yourself stuck in a workout rut, adventure out and try something new. A few of our Custom Critical Deliveries Texas team favorites are hiking, spinning, and fun classes like Zumba or CrossFit. New things will challenge your body, causing it to work harder and burn more calories.
There’s an app for that: You might want to turn towards technology to get the boost you need to get fit in 2015. There are multiple apps, devices, and internet programs that can do everything from create a customized workout to measure your caloric output. These things can get a little pricey, though, so just remember these are added benefits and absolutely not necessary to get fit.
Celebrate successes: Set small goals and celebrate when you meet them. The first time you break that 9-minute mile mark, shout it from the rooftops- or at least tell your accountability buddy. Sometimes success might not have to do directly with getting fit. For example, you might find that your jeans fit just a little better, or you have more energy to run around with your kids. Finding the small successes will help you stick to your overall goals.
Get back on the horse: If at first you don’t succeed…put on those running shoes and try again! When it comes to a lifelong goal like getting fit, you’re bound to fail at some point, and that’s ok. You might have a busy week like our Long Distance Deliveries from Dallas driers often do that prevents you from getting all of your workouts completed. Don’t let one bad week (or month) cause you to give up. Aim for some physical activity every day, even if it’s wall squats while you dial in on a conference call. On those days you can’t give it all, give it something!
Thanks to these tips from our Dallas Custom Critical Deliveries team, getting fit is easier than ever!
