It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that New Year’s Resolutions aren’t for the faint of heart. Many of us make them. Hardly any of us keep them.

What do you say we stick it to New Year’s Resolutions this year? Or, at least stick to those New Year’s Resolutions. If anyone knows how to commit and deliver, it’s Eagle Express. For nearly 40 years, we’ve been committed to honesty and integrity while delivering your time and temperature sensitive goods. If we gave up at every construction zone or last minute delivery change while transporting your Dallas courier deliveries, we’d be out of business. Instead, we stick to it. Just like you can stick to your New Year’s Resolutions. Here are a few tips.

Pick just one- Unlike your services at Eagle Express, where you can choose many services and bundle them for a better deal, with New Year’s Resolutions, you need to start small. It requires time and effort to change behaviors, so pick just one to focus on.

Set short term goals- Once you have your New Year’s Resolution in mind, break it up into a manageable timeline. For example, if your goal is to run a 5k, make it your goal to run one mile without stopping by the end of the first month.

Track your progress- Whatever your resolution, stick with it by writing it down. Write down your overall goal, the smaller steps you’re going to take to get there, and the play-by-play of how it’s going while you’re on the journey.

Shout it from the rooftops- In the age of social media, you can’t eat breakfast without the world knowing, so don’t tackle New Year’s Resolutions in silence. Sharing your experiences will build a support group around you. It also does its part to keep you accountable.

Take it 24 hours at a time- You can do anything for 24 hours. A lot can happen in that amount of time. As our couriers know, in just one hour, so much can change!  When you feel the pressure, commit to keeping your resolution for just 24 hours. Then go another 24, and another, until you're back on track.

Get back on the horse- Here’s the deal. Failure is a part of the journey. It’s how you pick yourself back up that matters. Experts say it takes 21 days for something to become a habit. It takes six months for something to become part of your routine. Be in it for the long haul.

Treat yo’self- As the fictional Parks and Rec character Tom always said: treat yo’self! When you achieve one of your small goals, and especially when you achieve your overall goal, reward yourself. Just be careful about how you reward yourself. If your resolution is to make smart money moves, don’t reward yourself with a purchase. If your resolution is to lose weight, don’t treat yourself with food. Find a reward that is appropriate for furthering your journey towards success.

To be honest, the odds aren’t in your favor, but with these tips from our Dallas courier deliveries team, your odds of success drastically improve. Don’t be one of the 80% of folks who give up by February. Stick it to your New Year’s Resolutions!
