It's the time of year. When you purchase a giant bag of candy, fully expecting it to stay in the back of your pantry until October 31st, only to find it dwindling away before the middle of the month. Self-control is tough this time of year. The average American gains between one and five pounds during the holiday season. Don't be fooled, though. The holidays start NOW.

As soon as you purchase that first bag of Halloween candy you can start the countdown to 2020. But what you definitely don't want to do is kick off the new year with a new pant size. Know what you’re getting into.

When it comes to that Halloween candy in the back of your pantry, though, do you know what you're getting into? One piece here or there can’t hurt, right? What, exactly, is that Fun Size piece of candy going to cost you in terms of nutrition?

Here are the nutritional facts for some of your favorite Halloween treats:

Bubble gum: Old school bubble gum will run you 20 calories each. But the good news is that if you chew it long enough, you'll burn more than that.

Skittles: One tiny fun sized pack contains 60 calories. That's six minutes of jogging to burn it off.

M&Ms: The plain kind will cost you only 73 calories, but up the ante with peanut M&Ms and you’ll rack it up to 90. Go for peanut butter M&Ms, and you’ll hit 95 calories (all well worth it, if you ask me.)

Swedish Fish: Soft, chewy, and only 50 calories per Halloween sized pack.

Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup: Oh, say it ain’t so! This little patty ranks as one of the most costly candies in the bag. With 110 calories and 6.5 grams of fat in one tiny cup, it’s going to cost you.

Snickers: Arguably the tastiest treat in the pillowcase, Snickers ranks high on the list, as well. The original type hits 80 calories, while the newer peanut butter type packs a whopping 130 calories.

SweetTarts: If you’re looking for a win, SweetTarts are the way to go. With just 10 calories and zero fat per 3 piece tube, you can eat a few before you even come close to one Fun Size peanut butter cup.

This Halloween, know what you’re getting into. These Fun Sized treats might not be such a fun way to kick off the holiday season. It pays to enjoy your treats in moderation. It also pays to know what you’re getting into with your courier when it comes to scheduled route deliveries. You don’t want to be left with a late or incomplete delivery or a disgruntled customer.
